Chain and rope spray is usually applied as follows :

Cleaning : Clean the chain or rope thoroughly to remove dirt, dust and old lubricant residues. A suitable cleaning agent or cleaning spray can help with this.
Drying : Allow the cleaned chain or rope to dry completely before applying the spray.
Preparation : Shake the can of chain or rope spray well to mix the ingredients.
Application: Spray the spray evenly onto the chain or rope. Maintain a reasonable distance to ensure an even coating. Turn the chain or move the rope to ensure that the spray reaches all areas.
Leaveto soak in : Leave the spray to soak in according to the manufacturer's instructions. It usually takes a few minutes to penetrate and lubricate.
Remove excess : Wipe off any excess spray with a clean cloth to prevent excessive build-up.
Follow-up : Check the chain or rope and apply additional spray if necessary, especially after prolonged use or if they have been subjected to heavy wear.
