There is a growing awareness of sustainability and the recycling of raw materials in politics and society. We need to move away from increasingly scarce natural raw materials and need more sustainability in production in order to preserve our environment for future generations. We can only shape our future sustainably if the material cycles are closed and limited resources are used as efficiently and sparingly as possible.
Resource-conserving waste management meets the requirements of our time and leads to a sustainable society. This involves the collection and sorting, optimal cleaning of contaminated recyclable materials and the separation of mixed recyclable materials. The waste management industry in Germany has been making its contribution to this for many years: waste that was previously potentially harmful to the environment is turned back into raw materials, as materials for new products or as an energy supplier to replace fossil fuels.
What is the best way to achieve a circular economy? By considering the material cycle as early as the production stage. This means thinking in advance about what happens to the goods and materials after their use phase. Ideally, the products can be recycled or repaired and remain in the cycle. If reuse is no longer possible, the materials are processed into recyclates and returned to the cycle as recycled raw materials.
The result: new production requires fewer primary raw materials and less energy to manufacture.
And so the cycle is closed.
