Dichtungsbahnen werden häufig verwendet für:

Die Dichtungsbahn verhindert, dass Wasser in den Untergrund versickert. Sie bildet die eigentliche Abdichtung des Teiches und sorgt dafür, dass der Wasserstand erhalten bleibt.
Bei fachgerechter Verlegung und Nutzung können hochwertige Dichtungsbahnen und Teichfolien viele Jahre eingesetzt werden. Die tatsächliche Lebensdauer hängt von Material, Umgebungsbedingungen und Belastung ab.
Die Folie wird auf einem vorbereiteten, möglichst steinfreien Untergrund verlegt. Häufig wird zusätzlich ein Schutzvlies verwendet, um die Dichtungsbahn vor Beschädigungen zu schützen.
